Mom has to wake her child, feed him, get him dressed, put all the necessary things into his bag, drive him to school and then get back home to fulfills a list of home and work duties. Constantly balancing between a role of a mom, a housewife and a working lady any woman can bring herself to the brain-fag. Hopefully some few simple advices below will help to change the situation and to make life a bit easier, less tense.
1. Accept the help of advanced technology
All those modern wireless devices (laptop, PDA, mobile phone) is a great help for a stay at home mom who has a small business or a part time work. You can fulfill your duties while sitting in a queue, in a public transport or in a cafeteria while waiting for your child to finish his classes.
2. Prepare all the things for tomorrow the day before.
Do not waste precious minutes in bed for reflection like “How can I get everything done in the morning?” Organized mom is preparing everything she needs for tomorrow before the bedtime. Clean the shoes, iron the clothes, put all the necessary stuff in your or your child’s bag, plan the day schedule and only then go to bed to have a 100% relaxed night.
3. Forget about the little things.
In order to strike a balance between work and household chores, always think about your prerogatives. If work and your child are your number 1 priorities, then try to be less concerned about cleaning or cooking. Yes, a 3-course meal and shinning floor are very important, but believe me, your child needs a happy and relaxed mom much more then sterile living space and gourmet dinner.
4. Find assistants.
Do you bring your children for shopping, go with them for a monthly doctor visit, drive them to school and all those extra classes and arrange their birthday parties? Well, it means you are not a very good manager. Experts claim that despite the variety of options for redistribution of duties between spouses, women generally take at least 2/3 parts (if not 4/5) of work for themselves. If this is what happens in your family, then you should sit down at the round table and discuss the situation. Your husband, relatives and even your elder kids can be a great help, you just need to ask them for assistance.
I can’t promise that if you follow these 4 simple rules, your life will change dramatically, but it will sure be less stressful. So why won’t give it a try?
